United States Leads Global Contact Center Industry Growth

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., March, 15, 2018—Call center industry jobs in the United States continue to expand as companies seek the optimal balance of labor availability, labor costs, geopolitical stability and business climate.  More than 166,990 jobs were created in the industry globally in 2017 with the United States leading that growth with 66,231 new jobs.  At the same time, more than 18,171 U.S. jobs were lost to closings and consolidations resulting in a net new job growth of 48,060 during the 2017 calendar year.

“Job growth in the U.S. has been driven by strong economic conditions, technology-enabled productivity enhancements, and corporate reshoring initiatives,” stated Matt Zemon, Chairman of jobs4america and CEO of Bernard BPO.

While the U.S. leads industry job growth, competition for outsourced jobs remains high in traditional global markets including India and the Philippines.  In addition, new offshore markets are emerging for outsourced contact industry jobs.  “Latin America is a fast-growing nearshore alternative for U.S. based companies.  Accessibility of bilingual skills, proximity to the U.S., low cost structure and political stability make it very attractive for outsourcing contact center jobs,” according to Jack Wilkie, President and CEO of jobs4america.
